"Caldwell & Sons"
1965 Satellite NHRA Super Street Class:
Representing an all out effort the 1965 Satellite was modified extensively from it's original configration. The engine was a new 440 motor home block from McCandless Performance left in standard bore for a 440. The motor was fitted with Venolia 12.75 pistons and the heads were fully ported iron casting 452's. Valves were Manley stainless 2.14 intake and 1.88 exhaust. The cam was a Crane inverted roller measuring .684/.684 lift and .284/.284 duration. The valve train action was controlled by a Milidon gear drive and Crane roller rockers. Fuel/air was deliverd by a modified Weiand intake topped by a Holley 1050 Dominator carb. 4 link suspension was added and a full race automatic transmission and converter propelled the car to 10.50@130mph during the early 1990's. The car was raced throughout Maryland and Pennsylvania in bracket and NHRA events.

Superbee with an Incredible History
1970 Superbee 383 "Air Grabber":
Car was originally a street car for back and forth transportation but found it's way to the local drag strip (75-80 in Monrovia, MD.) with a massaged 440 the car ran a best of 11.83@114mph. the car was deadly consistent. It had many drag strip wins including "Top Dog" at 75-80 which was at the time one of the premier East Coast bracket races. On a strong pass on top end at close to 115mph the car had a catastrophic failure and took out the motor and almost the car narrowly missing the guard rail on oil slick tires. The car was returned to its original configuration (numbers matching 383) and was shown at car shows throughout Florida earning many trophies and appearing on several magazine covers. The car currently is shown and runs NMCA with it's original stock but blueprinted 383 running a best elapsed time of 13.59 on Goodyear F70-14 Polyglas tires times making it one of the fastest stock motored 383 Mopars in the world.

Quick Olds on a Budget
1965 Oldsmobile Cutlass:
Purchased for $1600 dollars in Maryland the car was transported to Florida and raced at Orlando Speed World. A roll cage was added as was an Edelbrock Manifold and HEI and a few "tricks" from Mondello. The glass hood was actually sourced by Joe Mondello himself from a California connection. In the end the car was built and raced for under $3000 dollars. The Olds ran 12.70's with a vari-pitch 2 speed trans that was later switched to a turbo 400 with 2800 stall and some extra flywheel weight with a chrome moly piece from Mondello. A spool was added to the Chevrolet 12 bolt after the torque of the Olds bruised the differential. The 425 CI Olds ran solidly in the 12.50's in this configuration and was very competitive as a local bracket racer in the mid 1990's. Best elapsed time was 12.47@109mph, all with a stock bottom end, rods, pistons, and no head porting.

Max Wedge Show & Go Polara 500
1962 Polara 500:
The engine was a replica of a 383/343hp dual quad which was a rare dealer installed option only available in 1962. Thw 383 was built off an original 1962 casting 383 block bored .060 over with 4 bolt valve cover heads. The build up was generally a stock type build with true 9.5:1 compression ratio. The cam was a .470 hydraulic Comp Cams grind and the exhaust breathed through a set of Max Wedge manifolds and 3 inch TTI exhaust system. The 8 3/4 rear had 3.91 gears and the 383 was topped with a numbers matching "correct" intake manifold. Carburetion was provided by dual Carter AFB's that were numbers matching correct for 383/343hp engines. The car was shown at local Florida car shows and took honors at Big Daddy Don Garlits show around 2000. The car was originally purchased off of EBay before being restored into the condition shown. It was even raced with its push button automatic and ran low 14 second times on its only track outing. With a little tuning 13's were obtainable.
